Terms

Effective November 5, 2026

Ava is made by Twelve Ten, LLC. This page covers this website and explains how the Ava iPhone app and Ava Plus are licensed and billed. It’s written in plain language, and nothing on this site is legal advice.

Using this website

You’re welcome to browse the names here, hear how they’re said and share them with the people you’re naming with, for your own personal use. Please use the site lawfully, and don’t try to disrupt it, get around its security, or use it to harm others.

The Ava app

The Ava iPhone app is licensed to you under Apple’s Standard License Agreement (the terms of use for the app). How the app handles your information is described in the privacy policy.

Ava Plus

Ava is free to download. Ava Plus is an optional upgrade, sold and billed by Apple through the App Store and governed by Apple’s Standard License Agreement. The plans, prices and any free trial are shown in the app and on Apple’s confirmation screen before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, or when a free trial ends.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel a subscription. A lifetime purchase is a one-time payment, not a subscription. The plan details in Ava show whether Family Sharing is included. Refunds are handled by Apple.

Names, meanings and origins

We share meanings, origins, pronunciations and stories for inspiration. Names travel, so a meaning can vary between cultures, languages and sources, and some origins are uncertain. Popularity labels describe US records; usage in other countries can differ.

None of it is a guarantee: not that a meaning is the only one, not that a name is available or right for any particular use, and not that a name will be accepted where you register a birth. Rules for names differ from place to place, so check with your local registry when it matters. If you spot something that looks wrong, please tell us.

The website and the app

The website doesn’t sell subscriptions or take payments. Hearts, messages and anything you type here stay in your browser and don’t sync with the app. Visit Ava for iPhone to learn about the app.

Content and ownership

The Ava brand, wordmark, app icon, screenshots, site design and original writing, including the name stories, are © Twelve Ten. Please don’t copy the name collection or present it as your own product. Sharing a name, a card or a link with friends and family is exactly what it’s for, and uses permitted by law remain available.

Availability and external links

We aim to keep this website useful and accurate, but pages and features can change and may sometimes be unavailable. External websites, including Apple’s support and store services, are run by their own operators.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page shows when they last changed.

Your rights and questions

Nothing on this page is meant to take away rights or remedies that can’t be excluded under applicable law. For help, see help & support. Questions about these terms? Email us at [email protected].
