Help & support
What is Ava?
Ava is a baby-name app for iPhone. It shows you one name at a time, with how to say it, what it means, where it comes from and a short story about it. Heart the ones you love and share them with your partner. It isn’t on the App Store just yet; we’re putting the finishing touches on it.
Is Ava free?
Ava is free to download, with new names to discover every day. Ava Plus is an optional upgrade for unlimited names, every collection and every filter. Check the plan details in Ava for Family Sharing availability.
Do we need an account?
No. There’s no sign-up and no account. Your saved names and your answers from setup stay on your phone, and deleting Ava erases them.
How do we share names with a partner?
Tap Share on any name to send it as a card with its meaning and a soft color dot, plus a ready message like “What do you think of Izel for our baby?” Pick a card sized for chats or for stories. From Saved names, “Share our shortlist” sends your shortlist as one card. Your partner doesn’t need the app to see it.
Where do the meanings come from?
Ava brings together meanings, origins and stories from naming references and published records. Names can have several roots, and sources don’t always agree. We include context for disputed origins and keep refining the collection as we learn.
Is our last name private?
Yes. If you add your last name to see names beside it, it stays on your phone unless you choose to include it in a shared card or message. On this website, a last name you type into the demo stays in this browser tab and is gone when you leave.
