Your privacy
Effective November 5, 2026
Ava helps you find a baby name. It has no accounts and no sign-in, and your shortlist lives on your phone. This page is the privacy policy for the Ava iPhone app, with a short section about this website.
What stays on your phone
- Your saved names, hidden names, the names you have seen, and your answers from setup, including your due date and which origins you picked.
- Your last name, searches and setup answers stay on your phone. They are not attached to feedback. Text leaves your phone only when you choose to share it or send a feedback message yourself.
- You can erase your saved, hidden and seen names, and setup answers in Settings › Erase my data. This keeps your purchase access, Ava ID and preferences. Deleting Ava removes its local app data; any device backup is managed separately through Apple.
Usage analytics (only if you say yes)
During setup Ava asks whether you’d like to share usage analytics. No usage analytics are sent before you answer, and if you say no, none are sent. You can change your answer any time in Settings › Preferences › Share usage analytics; turning it off deletes anything not yet sent.
If you say yes, Ava sends usage events to Mixpanel so we can learn what works. An event says what happened — for example “a name was saved,” “a name was shared” or “the paywall was shown” — with the catalog id of the name involved (such as “izel”), your broad choices from setup (such as whether you’re naming a girl or a boy, or how many origins you picked), the number of origins in a filter you apply, catalog attributes, which origin group you open in Explore (such as “Irish”) and how many names it holds, and app details such as the version, the iOS version and error reasons. Events never include your last name, due date, arrival status or anything you type.
Events are sent under a random ID created on your phone. It is not your name, email, Apple Account or advertising ID. Mixpanel is told not to record your IP address or location. We don’t combine this data with information from other companies, and we don’t use it for advertising or to track you across apps.
Optional notifications
Notifications are optional and scheduled on your phone. A daily name and up to three first-week reminders are separate choices, and the reminders stay off unless you turn them on. Reminders can help you finish setup, revisit saved names or explore Ava Plus; they stop after Ava detects that you have Plus. We do not register a push token or send your naming answers to a notification server. Turn either choice off in Settings › Notifications, or turn all notifications off in iOS Settings. A trial-ending reminder is a separate switch on the purchase screen and, during a trial, in Settings › Ava Plus.
Purchases
Ava Plus is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your card details. To check whether your purchase is active, Ava uses RevenueCat, which receives the same random ID, your purchase history, the identifier Apple gives Ava for your device (not the advertising ID), your device model, iOS version, language, App Store country and the IP address of each request. This is needed for purchases to work, so it doesn’t depend on the analytics setting.
Feedback you choose to send
Settings › Support › Send feedback lets you send a note to the Ava team. Only when you tap Send, we receive the message, the app version and a random reference for that submission through Cloudflare. We use messages to understand problems and improve Ava. Your Ava ID, naming answers, saved names, last name and searches are not attached. Please leave private details out of your message. No reply address is collected by this form.
Sending feedback works independently of optional usage analytics. Feedback text is never sent to Mixpanel. Cloudflare receives ordinary network information, including your IP address, to handle the request. The feedback service uses a short-lived keyed value to limit repeated submissions; it does not store the raw IP address or attach that value to your message.
Support email
If you email [email protected], we receive your email address and the message you choose to send. Cloudflare routes the email to our Google-hosted support inbox. We use it to respond to your request and retain correspondence only as long as needed to resolve it and meet legal obligations. Please do not send payment details or sensitive personal information.
Who receives data
We use Mixpanel for optional analytics, RevenueCat and Apple for purchases, and Cloudflare to deliver the name catalog, settings, pronunciation recordings and this policy and to receive and store feedback. These services receive the information described here to operate and secure their services. We never sell your data.
How long we keep it
Usage events are kept for up to 24 months, then deleted. Purchase records are kept as long as needed to provide Ava Plus and to meet tax and accounting rules.
Feedback messages expire after 90 days and are removed by the next hourly cleanup. Short-lived abuse-prevention records are removed separately. Recovery backups may retain earlier data for up to 30 additional days; restored data is subject to the same deletion rules.
Your choices
- Stop analytics: Settings › Preferences › Share usage analytics.
- Erase what’s on your phone: Settings › Erase my data, or delete Ava.
- Delete what our services hold: Settings › Support › Request data deletion sends us your Ava ID, and we handle the request within 30 days. We delete data linked to that ID from Mixpanel and RevenueCat, except purchase records we must retain for legal obligations. We explain any exception in our reply. You can also ask us for a copy of your data. Deletion does not cancel an App Store subscription; manage it in your Apple Account settings.
- Delete a feedback message: contact us with the submission reference shown after sending, or enough of the message and date for us to find it. Feedback is not linked to your Ava ID. Erase my data clears local app data; it does not remove a message you already sent.
Name data and pronunciations
Ava downloads its name catalog, settings and available pronunciation recordings through Cloudflare. Audio requests include the catalog identifier of the name you choose to hear. These requests do not include your Ava ID or setup answers. Like any network service, Cloudflare receives request information such as IP address, requested path and time to deliver content and protect the service.
We prepare some pronunciation recordings with ElevenLabs before they are published. Playing a recording in Ava does not send a request, your Ava ID or your naming preferences to ElevenLabs. When a recording is unavailable, Ava uses Apple’s device speech feature. Ava does not record your voice or request microphone access.
Children
Ava is made for adults choosing a name. It does not knowingly collect information from children.
Who we are and your rights
Twelve Ten, LLC is responsible for the data described here (the “controller” under the EU and UK GDPR). Contact us at [email protected].
Mixpanel, RevenueCat and Cloudflare may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data leaves the EU or UK, we rely on the safeguards these providers offer, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK Addendum or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
You can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, to restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it. Use Settings › Support › Request data deletion or email us; we reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority, or in the UK to the Information Commissioner’s Office. Ava makes no decisions about you based solely on automated processing.
- Usage analytics: based on your consent. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings › Preferences › Share usage analytics; that does not affect what was sent before.
- Purchases: needed to provide Ava Plus under our agreement with you, and purchase records are kept to meet tax and accounting obligations.
- Name catalog, settings, pronunciations and this page: based on our legitimate interest in delivering Ava and keeping the service secure.
- Feedback and support requests: based on our legitimate interest in responding to you, understanding problems and improving Ava.

This website
The website has no accounts, cookies, analytics or ads, and its fonts are served with the site. Like any website, it is delivered by a hosting provider, Vercel, which receives standard request information, such as your IP address, the page requested, the time and your browser details, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Name searches use the page address (for example, /names?q=light), so what you search for can appear in your browser history and in hosting logs. Share messages, hearts and any last name you type here stay in your browser’s memory. They are never added to the page address, saved or sent to us, and they leave your browser only if you share or copy them yourself.
The listen button uses your browser’s built-in speech feature. Some browsers use an online voice service for this, which receives the name being spoken and handles it under that browser maker’s privacy policy. Links to the App Store and other sites take you to services with their own privacy practices.
